Stretch of northbound US 281 briefly closed Wednesday night after a man died while attempting to cross, police say

Authorities say an accident between a vehicle and a pedestrian resulted in a fatality.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Police say a 60-year-old man died after being hit by an SUV while trying to cross US 281 on the north side around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, prompting a temporary shutdown of the highway between Nakoma Street and Bitters Road.

Officials haven't identified the man, but say the driver of the SUV stopped after the accident.

The closed section of 281 North eventually opened back up on Wednesday night.
