SAN ANTONIO — Loop 1604 at Blanco Road is set to be closed this weekend for a bridge demolition, weather permitting.
From 9 p.m. Friday Nov. 8 to 5 a.m. Monday Nov. 11, Loop 1604 eastbound and westbound main lanes from the Blanco Road exit ramp to the Blanco Road entrance ramp will be closed.
This is part of the Loop 1604 North Expansion project. These closures allow crews to demolish the original Blanco Road bridge that is across from Loop 1604.
The new bridge opened to traffic last weekend. On Monday when the work is set to be complete, drivers will continue to use the new bridge.
Detours for this weekend include:
- Drivers on the Loop 1604 eastbound or westbound main lanes will exit on the Blanco Road exit ramp and continue on the frontage road lanes, then can re-enter the main lanes via the Blanco Road entrance ramp.
- Drivers on Blanco Road northbound will take the Loop 1604 eastbound frontage road to the turnaround at Stone Oak Parkway. Traffic will continue on the Loop 1604 westbound frontage road lanes back to Blanco Road northbound.
- Drivers on Blanco Road Southbound will take the Loop 1604 westbound frontage road to the turnaround at Huebner Road. Traffic will continue on the Loop 1604 eastbound frontage road lanes back to Blanco Road southbound.
