Utility truck with a lift hits car on I-35, causing traffic delays

The utility truck somehow toppled over and the extended lift hit a small black sedan that was heading northbound on the freeway.

VON ORMY, Texas — Two people were hospitalized with minor injuries when a bucket truck equipped with a lift smashed into a sedan while it was heading northbound on Interstate 35 in Von Ormy. 

The accident shut down the highway near Benton City Road for a few hours while crews responded and cleaned up debris. the road has since reopened. 

Contractors on scene say crews were working to fix a broken light when the bucket truck somehow toppled over, causing the arm of the life to hit the car. KENS 5 crew members were on scene at around noon and saw that the northbound lanes going into San Antonio were closed off and traffic re-routed to the access road while cleanup unfolded. 

Emergency crews said the scene was cleared as of 4 p.m.
