SAN ANTONIO — Drivers on the city's northwest side will need to find an alternate route Monday. The intersection of Lockhill Selma Road and De Zavala Road will be closed after a water main break, a city spokesperson said Monday.
According to the city's Transportation and Capital Improvements department, a contractor hit and ruptured a SAWS water line during construction Monday afternoon.
By 7 p.m. Monday, water service was restored to the area.
Initial estimates said it would take as many as three days to repair. On Monday evening, a SAWS spokesperson said crews will take care of the work Monday night. The work is expected to be complete by Tuesday morning at about 6:30 a.m.
Monday, traffic on De Zavala will be able to continue through the intersection. However, drivers on Lockhill Selma Road will need to detour at Indian Woods Street. Drivers coming from Loop 1604 to Lockhill Selma Road will need to turn around to access a different route.
Uniformed officers will be in the area to direct traffic around the intersection.
