SAN ANTONIO — Drivers should prepare themselves after TxDot announced another major highway closure due to construction starting Friday night.
All lanes at the Loop 1604/Interstate 10 interchange, including the cloverleafs, will be closed starting at 10 p.m. But the closure will be short-lived as lanes are set to reopen at 6 a.m. Saturday, with only minor closures to follow.
This continued construction is part of the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, which began a few years ago.
The project stretches over 23 miles of 1604 from State Highway 16 to I-35. It’s broken up into six different segments and officials said new progress is being made along the highway.
Initially this closure was slated to last all weekend. Fortunately for drivers, those plans changed.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead. Stay informed and connect to TxDOT San Antonio’s X feed and Facebook page for ongoing construction and traffic updates.
