SAPD: Intoxicated wrong-way driver causes major accident on south side

The front passenger of the vehicle hit by the intoxicated driver suffered a broken arm and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

SAN ANTONIO — A major south-side accident Friday night was caused by a suspect driving intoxicated, authorities say.

According to SAPD, a Chevrolet Traverse was driving southeast on South Alamo Street at about 11:35 p.m. Friday night.

As the Chevrolet drove through the green light at the intersection with South Flores Street, a Saturn Vue, driving the wrong way, hit the Chevrolet. The Saturn was driving north in the south lanes of South Flores.

The front passenger of the Chevrolet, a 37-year-old woman, suffered a broken arm and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Saturn, later identified as 43-year-old Marivel Ramirez, was found to be intoxicated by officials at the scene and is being charged with intoxication assault.
