Loop 1604 to close at I-10 as part of ongoing construction

SAN ANTONIO — Part of the intersection of Loop 1604 North and I-10 will close again this weekend as part of ongoing construction to improve traffic.

Drivers are growing frustrated with the closures as work stretches on for the third month. The closure of part of Loop 1604 improvements that will eventually make it easier on all drivers. The work is divided up into six segments of Loop 1604 North, four of which are already underway.

This weekend, the closure will start at 9 p.m. Friday, June 21, and continue through 5 a.m. Monday, June 24. TxDOT says several different sections will be closed. The agency provided the following guide of the closures:

- Loop 1604 Eastbound Mainlanes from Vance Jackson Road Exit Ramp to Lockhill Selma Road Entrance Ramp

- Loop 1604 Westbound Mainlanes at the I-10 Interchange - Left Lane Only

- Loop 1604 Eastbound Exit Ramp to I-10 Eastbound

- I-10 Westbound Exit Ramp to Loop 1604 Eastbound

- Loop 1604 Westbound Exit Ramp to I-10 Westbound

- I-10 Eastbound Collector-Distributor at the Loop 1604 Interchange

- Cloverleaf Ramps from Loop 1604 Westbound to I-10 Eastbound and I-10 Eastbound to Loop 1604 Eastbound

- I-10 Westbound Frontage Road between Loop 1604 Westbound Frontage Road and the La Cantera Exit Ramp (Friday, Saturday and Sunday Nights only)

TxDOT says access to businesses along the frontage road will be open and available.

The agency also said the weekend closures will not take place during the July Fourth holiday weekend.
