National Guardsman killed in two-vehicle crash on Maverick County highway

Texas DPS identified the victim as 44-year-old Jeremy Vance Randolph of Dallas, Texas.

MAVERICK COUNTY, Texas — Texas Department of Public Safety troopers are investigating a fatal crash that killed one person along Highway U.S. 277 in Maverick County Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities say a 2019 red Ford truck was traveling northbound and a 2019 white Ford van was traveling southbound along U.S. 277 near mile marker 580, just north of Eagle Pass.

That’s when the front left tire of the truck blew out causing it to cross onto the wrong side of the roadway and collide with the van, according to Texas DPS.

The driver of the van, identified by officials as 44-year-old National Guardsman Jeremy Vance Randolph, was taken to Fort Duncan Medical Center in Eagle Pass where he succumbed to his injuries.

The driver and two passengers of the truck were all transported to the same hospital to be treated for injuries. No word as of now on their identities or their current condition.
