SAN ANTONIO — San Antonians should expect heavy traffic this weekend with multiple closures on Loop 1604 and I-10.
The closures start Friday night at 9 p.m. and will last through Monday morning for construction on the Loop 1604 Expansion Project.
Loop 1604 is going to be closed in both directions at the I-10 intersection with the cloverleaf ramps but drivers will be able to take alternate routes. I-10 will still be open so drivers can exit off the interstate to take a detour around the construction zone.
Traffic congestion will most likely happen near the intersection so TX Dot is encouraging drivers to plan ahead and use GPS for traffic updates on how to get around.
To alleviate this extra traffic - police will be at the La Cantera and I-10 intersection to help guide cars and reduce back up.
