SAN ANTONIO — Two people are now dead after a vehicle rolled over several on the south side early Saturday morning, authorities say.

According to police, a vehicle with four people inside was speeding down Zarzamora as the road curves onto Applewhite Road at about 2:20 a.m.

Around the 12000 block, the driver lost control and the vehicle drove into a dirt lot. The driver tried to re-enter the roadway at speed when it hit a concrete drainage ditch, causing the truck to roll over several times into tall brush.

While rolling, two people in the vehicle were ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. One was a man in his early 20s and the other was a woman also in her early 20s. Two other people were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

The occupants have not been positively identified and the next of kin has not be notified.

The investigation is still active.
