San Antonio International Airport prepares for heavy foot traffic ahead of Thanksgiving travel

The FAA expects to have the most airplanes in the sky today - 48 hours ahead of Thanksgiving.

SAN ANTONIO — The TSA predicts Sunday will be the busiest air travel day of the year in terms of passenger count.

Behind flight boards are the fates of travelers. Travelers like Kelly Anderson and her kids are visiting someone special.

“We’re coming from Rochester,” Anderson said. “It’s time to see grandma for Thanksgiving.”

Anderson’s mom, Lisa Dillard just came back from New York, she couldn’t get enough family time.

“I am so grateful for them they are my heart,” Dillard said.

Other travelers like Sofia Moreno are grateful for the not so long lines.

“It’s very empty it’s… i came last year and it was so full. Now it’s really empty,” Moreno said. “I came on Sunday and I’m going back. I only came one day.”

Moreno is visiting from Mexico City is studying dentistry – so her one day trip is short-lived.

“I would like to stay for thanksgiving, but I have to go to school,” she said.

Within the next 24 hours, the airport should look very different.
