NWS finds EF2 tornado touched down in Floresville

FLORESVILLE, Texas -- Members of the National Weather Service were in South Texas Monday morning around 9 a.m., touring damage sites and gathering data.

The surveyors arrived in the wake of historic storms that rocked much of South Central Texas Friday.

NWS San Antonio confirmed an EF2 tornado struck Floresville Friday.

In particular, NWS said it will be touring three damage sites including D'Hanis in Medina County, Floresville in Wilson County and the Geronimo area in Guadalupe County.

After Floresville High School sustained heavy damage in the storm, school officials said it is now expected to reopen Friday, Nov. 6. The Floresville Independent School District originally said the school would reopen Thursday.

Residents KENS 5 spoke with in Floresville said they are still working to pick up the pieces after the tornado.
