SAN ANTONIO — Dangerous heat continues for another day as a Heat Advisory will remain in effect through 8 pm Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. However, a couple of rain chances will hang around the next six days.
A pattern of isolated thunderstorms could pop-up Thursday leaving tomorrow as one of the best chances for San Antonio to see some showers/storms.
Here's what San Antonians should expect:
Next 24 hours: Despite the chances for rain a high temperature around 103 degrees is expected on Thursday with heat index values reaching as high as 109. Best chances for showers/storms will be after 4 p.m. when models depicts isolated showers firing up around Bexar County at 5 p.m.
Most of the rain could be closer to northern Bexar County with stronger storms capable of producing heavy downpours, lightning and damaging wind gusts. Currently, San Antonio is at a 20 to 30 percent chance of experiencing rain showers/storms late Thursday afternoon. But another chance stays in the extended forecast.
Weekend: Saturday and Sunday will be brutally hot with high temperatures over 100 degrees. Therefore, exercise heat precautions such as drinking water and taking breaks in the shade if you have outdoor plans since a Heat Advisory may be issued.
Remember to conserve power when you can as ERCOT says one reason no significant outages have occurred is because their requests to conserve energy has worked.
Next week: As a high pressure starts to ease west of Texas, San Antonio could see another slight chance of showers at 10 percent on Tuesday. High temperatures will still be above 100 degrees.
