Cold front and soaking rains come to San Antonio this week

Some areas could see isolated thunderstorm activity as an active weather pattern will have a hold on the San Antonio-area for multiple days.

SAN ANTONIO — The first cold front of November is bringing rain and fall-like weather to San Antonio this week.

Temperatures will once again drop below normal high temperatures in the 60s as rain will moves through the area.

These weather changes will come in two parts. First is the cold front then a coastal low will move in bringing near an inch of rainfall to our area this weekend.

Some areas could see isolated thunderstorm activity as the second part of a weather change takes place with ongoing rain possible in the San Antonio-area for multiple days.

Here's what San Antonians need to know:

Thursday (High 62 and Low 68): The cold front will drop into Texas by the morning but not reach San Antonio until the afternoon. Temperatures will stay in the 60s all day. As the front moves closer to the city in the afternoon rain will move in since there's plenty of moisture to work with. An isolated thunderstorm can't be ruled out.

Potential for heavier rainfall is possible during the evening with strong wind gusts near 35 mph overnight into Friday. Dry air will also be associated behind the front but an active pattern sets up again Friday.

Friday (High 63 and Low 50): It will be a cold and soggy start to the day. Cold air advection and shower activity will stay in place under cloudy skies. Temperatures will stay in the low 60s and drop into the 40s overnight.

Rain will also continue throughout the day as the front moves through. Showers and storms will be possible throughout the day. By the afternoon most of the rain should back off as temperatures will then drop to the low 50s. Winds will gust near 20 mph.

Weekend: The rain isn't done yet. Showers and storms stay in the forecast all the way through Monday. Bundle up because temperatures will stay in the low 60s.
