SAN ANTONIO — After days of Red Flag Warnings and fires burning near San Antonio a line of showers and storm activity will push through Texas overnight Tuesday to Wednesday morning.
Rain and possible thunderstorms could roll through San Antonio Wednesday morning but windy conditions will be the biggest concern. This will cause a Red Flag Warning to go into effect from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday as this system brings more dry, breezy conditions.
Here's what you can expect the next 12 hours:
Plenty of moisture will be available ahead of the front but the chance for strong storms to develop is low for San Antonio. Severe weather is more likely to stay north of San Antonio in the Hill Country but an isolated storm can't be ruled out. Any isolated storms that develop could produce gusty winds and small hail.
Wednesday morning commute could be slippery with rain and storms parked outside San Antonio around 5 a.m. Boerne and New Braunfels could see heavier rainfall but will be quickly move out by 7 a.m. Temperatures will drop in the 50s for the Hill Country behind the front.
Before and after the front breezy conditions are expected for San Antonio. Winds could gust over 30 mph.
Winds will continue to be breezy all day Wednesday so bring any outdoor decorations that could be blown away inside. These gusty winds could lead to critical fire weather conditions on Wednesday.
San Antonio is under a Wind Advisory now until 4 a.m. Wednesday and a Red Flag Warning beginning Wednesday at 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Unfortunately, less than 0.5 inches of rainfall is expected for San Antonio. The heavier pockets of rain will fall towards Houston, TX, near one inch.
