SAN ANTONIO — The KENS 5 Weather Team has called for Weather Impact Alert Day on Sunday due to the possibility of heavy rain and localized flooding in the area.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for Bexar County until 12:30 p.m.
There is a 40% to 70% chance of rain on Sunday.
What you need to know: The weather could impact outdoor plans you may have had during the weekend.
There will be an upper level trough in place with embedded disturbances causing lift with daytime heating to produce scattered t-storms each afternoon.
Above average atmospheric moisture will be present so some of the downpours will be heavy and at times this could lead to excessive rain.
Even though rain should be scattered flooding will be possible Sunday if the current pattern continues.
Daytime heat will still cause some downpours and a quick 1 to 2” will cause localized flooding.
The trough will probably retrograde back to the west and scattered heavy rain should be a factor at times Sunday.
With saturated soil it won’t take much over the weekend to cause some flooding.
If the upper trough stays east of SA then the heaviest rain will remain across the Houston area.
