SAN ANTONIO — The KENS 5 Weather Team has called for Weather Impact Alert Days this week from Thursday-Saturday as the San Antonio region prepares for some of its hottest days of the year.

A Heat Advisory is in effect through 8 p.m. on Thursday for counties in orange shading. Limit time outdoors, drink plenty of water, and find some AC. Highs will top out in the 100-108 range.

What you need to know

Upper high is making it hot with highs near 100° to 104° with max heat index values 105° to 110°.

A heat advisory is likely thru Friday and maybe Saturday.

The heat wave will continue into next week, but heat index values should be below 105°.  We will monitor to see if humidity next week stays elevated.

What does this mean for you? It means you should remember to take precautions if outside for prolonged periods of time over the next several days.

If you are outside, wear light-colored clothing, hydrate frequently and limit strenuous activity. Heat stress is among the leading causes of weather-related deaths, according to the World Health Organization, so you should try to avoid direct exposure to the sun at the hottest hours of the day (between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.).
