New Year's Eve forecast: Cold front and chance for fog development as we enter 2024

As New Year's Eve approaches on Sunday, temperatures will be drop into the 50s as we near midnight.

SAN ANTONIO — Get ready San Antonians as we ring in the new year we can expect temperatures to drop and fog to possibly develop by early Monday morning.

Ahead of the front, New Year's Eve will be breezy with highs in the 50s. Cloud cover will also begin to increase as we get closer to midnight.

As we start the new year of 2024 fog could reduce visibility beginning from south Austin through San Antonio. Therefore, for those planning to drive after celebrating the new year should drive cautiously.

If fact, some of this fog could result in super fog which is the combination of smoke and moisture. This is due to the smoke created by those late night fireworks. Remember when driving in foggy conditions to leave enough room between you and the car ahead of you.

Then the cold front should move through San Antonio around 3 a.m. which should help improve visibility. Drizzle is also possible along the front.

The cold front will drop high temperatures about 10 degrees for Monday. Tuesday will be our coldest day, and when you will want to pack the umbrella; San Antonians will see nothing but clouds, cold weather and rain chances. Tuesday will be San Antonians best chance for rain activity.

By Wednesday the sun should return and temperatures warming in the 60s.
