The president of the program said they gave away nearly $17,000 worth of equipment to children in need of golfing supplies.

SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio outreach program held their first official ceremony where they gave over 30 eligible children new golf equipment and accessories for free.

The Flamingo Club hosted their inaugural award ceremony Saturday at the Mission Del Lago Golf Course. Over 150 people attended the event including city council members who support the program.

At the ceremony 34 kids from the greater San Antonio area were given a new set of golf clubs, apparel, accessories and a Flamingo Club card that guarantees 12 rounds of golf.

Flamingo Club President Ray Garza said they gave away nearly $17,000 worth of equipment to children in need of golfing supplies.

Most of the proceeds from Garza's golf clothing line, On Par Golf Apparel, helped pay for the gear.

Garza said they hope to host the next ceremony sometime in December.
