Man driving nearly 124 mph causes crash killing two women, BCSO says

Sheriff Javier Salazar said the suspect's wife was killed in a similar crash on the same stretch of Highway 16.

SAN ANTONIO — One man has been arrested for crashing into another vehicle at a high speed that left a mother and her daughter dead, according to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.

Larry James Korus, 40, was driving a high-performance Lexus around speeds of 124 mph and crashing nearly 800 feet away from making a complete stop, Sheriff Javier Salazar said.

"If you're driving at that speed especially in that short distance you may as well be taking out a gun and firing it down the road because that's exactly what you're doing. That vehicle is a loaded weapon at that point," Salazar said.

Korus was driving to work before he crashed into the car carrying Linda and Julie Perry, killing them on the scene. The impact was so strong that their vehicle flipped over.

Salazar said Korus' wife was also killed in an accident this past March on the same stretch of road in a similar fashion when she was driving a Camaro.

"One could make the argument that Mr. Korus absolutely should've known better after having lost a loved one," Salazar says.

Korus faces two counts of manslaughter.
