SAN ANTONIO — Police are still searching for the person who shot and killed 37-year-old Nicole Wells Wednesday morning in a garage on the 5600 Block of Espada Cliff.
San Antonio police responded to the home, not far from Sinclair Road around 1:30 a.m. for reports of a shooting that has left the neighborhood frightened.
When officers arrived at the home, they found Wells dead in the garage and a man in his 30s with a gunshot wound to his chest and two more in his arm. He was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in critical condition.
Her cousin Beau Spriggs said he doesn't understand how this happened to Wells.
"She was the best, loveable person ever,” Spriggs said.
Spriggs added that Wells leaves behind a son and her mother who is now having to make funeral arrangements.
The moment the call came in, Spriggs said he broke down.
He said he woke up the morning of Apr. 17 and tried to call Wells but couldn't get ahold of her. Spriggs added that her mother couldn't reach her either.
Once they found out about Well's death, Spriggs said he immediately reached out to her son so he could make sure he would be okay.
One thought that won't escape Spriggs' mind, how Nicole did not deserve this. He adds, she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"I can hear her saying to them 'How can we solve this... How can we fix this," Spriggs said.
Now Wells' family is searching for answers.
"We want the police to get to the bottom of this and she doesn't deserve this," said Spriggs.
No information was provided on the suspect. Homicide detectives are still investigating.
