Here is a letter sent out to parents by the principal:

"Dear LEE/ISA Families,

I want to let you know about a situation we are handling on campus today. I want to be as transparent as possible so that you have accurate information.

Two students reported that another student may have a weapon on campus. One reported that there was a video/picture on social media of the student holding a gun in what looked to be a restroom on campus. In the background of the social media image, there was a second student as well.

We immediately informed the North East Police Department (NEPD) and began an immediate investigation. Our Emergency Response Team (ERT) was dispatched to the campus as well. The student was identified and a gun was confiscated from his backpack. The student has been arrested.

The second student in the background of the online video was also identified and he may face disciplinary action as well.

During this time, the campus implemented our Safety Response Protocol (SRP) and was placed in a hold status, where all students and staff stayed in place.

We applaud the students who came forward to report this information."
