Car used by Windsor Hollow shooters possibly found, Sheriff Salazar says

The sheriff said the two suspects intended to "inflict maximum damage," based on the weapons they're accused of using.

SAN ANTONIO — Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said investigators continue to work "around the clock" to find the two men who shot up a northeast-side townhome Wednesday evening, killing a young girl and hurting four others inside.

But they may now have a crucial puzzle piece after it was stumbled upon by a keen-eyed off-duty law enforcement officer who was walking his dog on the far west side Thursday. That officer noticed an abandoned Infiniti Q50 that fit the description of the car the suspects fled the area in on Wednesday, and called the Bexar County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), Salazar says.

"At this point we don't know for a fact this is the car that was involved in the shooting," he said Friday, adding that car came back as stolen from Converse. "But we're going to be running tests on it to see if we can evidence that anybody was firing a weapon in or near that vehicle."

Meanwhile, Salazar said his agency has received tips and executed "several" search warrants as they work to zero in on the suspects, including at a south-side home. While he said he couldn't go into details regarding potential new evidence, Salazar said the case "seems to be picking up steam."

Messages and calls from anonymous tipsters have also helped the investigation, Salazar said, before encouraging those individuals to contact BCSO for follow-up if they think of anything else, no matter how small. Tips can be provided by calling (210) 335-6000 or emailing bcsotips@bexar.org.

"I think we're on the trail," he said. "But I need the tips to continue to come in."

Crime Stoppers also released photos of the two suspects and said they may pay up to $5,000 for any information leading to an arrest.

The suspects are believed to be in their 20s or 30s.

Meanwhile, the four others hurt in the attack – including two children who are 7 and 8 years old – remain hospitalized in stable condition after an attack in which the gunmen set out to "inflict maximum injury," according to the sheriff. He emphasized the brazen nature of the attack, specifically how the men can be seen taking time to exit their car and closely approach the home before opening fire.

The gunmen used what the sheriff referred to as "tumbling rounds" which he says causes more damage than regular ammunition.

None of the victims have been officially identified, but a verified GoFundMe organized by a relative is seeking donations for the family.

“We’re hoping that family can recover from their physical wounds," Salazar said. "But we know they’ll never recover from the loss of their little baby.”

The sheriff has said he expects to pursue capital murder charges once the suspects are in custody.
