San Antonio man arrested in connection with 'targeted' shooting that left two injured in Schertz

Police haven't shared many details about the June shooting, in which the victims were found in a shot-up car.

SAN ANTONIO — A 21-year-old San Antonio man wanted for a slew of alleged crimes is also believed to have shot two people in a "targeted" June 30 attack in Schertz, according to law enforcement.

Rodrigo Lopez was taken into custody early Thursday afternoon by Schertz police, in coordination with U.S. Marshals, and faces deadly conduct charges in connection with the June shooting that began in the 6000 block of Covers Cove. In a release, Schertz Police Chief Jim Lowery said Lopez was "clearly a threat."

No information has been provided about the victims, whose conditions weren't specified. Authorities said earlier this month that they were in a shot-up vehicle with two others when officers found them in the 3700 block of Columba Drive, which is a residential area of town.

Authorities continue to investigate the shooting, and anyone with information is urged to contact Schertz police at (210) 619-1200.
