BCSO: Two men arrested after 21-year-old woman was killed at a March 'rave,' more arrests expected

Lorenzo Montes, 20, and Hector Torres, 19, are facing murder charges in the death of Desirae Rivera.

SAN ANTONIO — Two men have been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting at a March "rave" on the southwest side of Bexar County, authorities announced Wednesday.

Lorenzo Montes, 20, and Hector Torres, 19, face charges of murder and aggravated assault with a firearm causing serious bodily injury.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said Montes was found Wednesday morning and taken into custody. Torres is in Missouri, where he attends college, waiting to be extradited back to San Antonio.

Early in the morning of March 9, deputies were called to the 8200 block of Old Pearsall Road for a reported shooting at an old building previously used by the Knights of Columbus.

Salazar said 20-year-old Jonathan Arriola, who was previously charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, was with Montes and Torres at the party when some sort of disturbance broke out which resulted in all three men leaving the party.

While they were leaving the area, however, authorities say Arriola pulled out a gun and shot at the building where the party was continuing. He might not have been the only one; Salazar said Montes and Torres made comments that they also fired shots in the same direction.

During the shooting, 21-year-old Desirae Rivera was shot in the head and died at the scene. A man was also shot in the abdomen but survived.

According to BCSO, the gun had been converted into an automatic weapon with a switch device. Salazar said they believe two others were in the vehicle with Arriola, Montes and Torres at the time of the shooting, adding he expects more people to be charged.

"I don't believe we are done making arrests in this case," the sheriff said.

The sheriff added they are seeing an increase in these illegal parties and urges the community to remain vigilant by reporting suspicious activity.

"It's a scary, scary situation," the sheriff said.

BCSO is asking anyone with information regarding this case to come forward and call deputies at 210-335-6000 or email BCSOTIPS@bexar.org.

Arriola's charges were also upgraded to Aggravated Assault with a Firearm-Discharge from a Motor Vehicle Causing Serious Bodily Injury.
