'It's alarming': 17-year-old girl has been missing for nearly a week, loved ones fear she's in danger

Semiya Isaac disappeared on Monday. Extended family members are preparing to travel from Michigan to San Antonio to expand the search.

SAN ANTONIO — A worried mother needs your help. Semiya Isaac, 17, has been missing for nearly a week and loved ones believe she is in danger.

“My son is crying, he is trying to keep me from crying,” said Angela Grimes, with tears streaming down her face. “I’m not sleeping. I’ve only had seven hours of sleep since Monday night.”

Semiya was last seen leaving her home on Crosswinds Way at around 6 p.m. on Monday.

“She was walking out the door and she said, ‘I am about to drop this stuff off,’ and then she left,” said Zier Grimes, Semiya’s 11-year-old brother.

Zier called his mother when Semiya didn’t return.

“I was at work,” said Angela. “My son called me about 9:30 p.m. and said, ‘Ma, my sister left. She said she would be back. I thought it was going to be an hour, but it’s been three hours.’ My daughter has never left, and she would never leave her brother and two nieces unattended knowing my granddaughter gets seizures.”

According to Angela, no one has been able to get ahold of Semiya.

“Semiya left her phone at home,” she said. “She left personal stuff that she would use every day to make herself pretty. Those are things that are alarming to me. She hasn’t talked to family or friends. She hasn’t reached out to her sisters-in-laws or her boyfriend in Michigan. Semiya talks to her boyfriend every day.”

However, Angela told KENS 5 there was a credible sighting at the Nova Vista Apartments at Woodlake on Monday.

“It was a factual lead that the police followed up on,” said Angela. “She was with a young man that she went to school with. He confirmed it, but said he didn’t know how she left. Then, his story kept changing.”

With each passing day, the family grows more anxious.

“She has been missing for more than 24 hours which makes it way scarier,” Zier said.

Angela wants Semiya to know she’s loved, and they just need to know she’s okay. The family is also turning to the community for help.

“We are not from here, we are from Michigan,” said Angela. “I have been here almost two years. This is my only daughter. I have four boys and one girl and that’s all I ask is that they help bring my baby home.”

Extended family members are preparing to travel to San Antonio to expand the search, Angela says. The family is also offering up to $15,000 for Semiya’s safe return.

It is illegal to harbor a missing child. This offense is punishable by up to a year in jail and/or up to a $4,000 fine.

Semiya was last seen wearing a white shirt and shorts. She's about 5'5 with braided hair, braces, a tattoo with the name 'Angela' on her left forearm, and a butterfly tattoo on her right arm.

If you know anything about her whereabouts, please call the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) at 210-207-7660.
