SAN ANTONIO — It has been more than three weeks since a single mother was found dead on the floor of her home in far west Bexar County and deputies are still searching for the killer.
BCSO investigators said they discovered 33-year-old Ana Ojeda on March 29 with lacerations to her chest.
Initially, her friend discovered her body after she grew concerned that she was not returning her phone calls or texts.
Family and friends gathered outside her home off Davalos Lane in the Luckey Ranch Neighborhood Sunday.
“For us to know how she was, how protective she was and how private she was and for this to happen to her, it irks us, and it keeps us up at night,” her friend Samantha Contreras said.
They said they have no idea who could have done this and are waiting to learn more from investigators.
“The way she was murdered, there was hate behind it,” her neighbor, Roxane Mota Vasquez said. “She wasn’t robbed, nobody broke in, there was rage.”
That tragic day, they said the killer did not just take Ojeda’s life, they stole a mother from a child. She had a six-year-old daughter.
“They’ve made a pact her and her dad that they will always remember Ana, they picked a star up in the sky and named it mama,” Mota Vasquez said. “That’s the one that they’ll pray for every night.”
They said she worked hard to provide a beautiful life for her child.
“Her main like accomplishment in life was being Marianna’s mom,” Contreras said.
While they said it is tough to process what happened, they said it is easy to honor the mother they said touched so many lives.
“We need justice for Ana,” Mota Vasquez said.
Friends and family are working to host a march in honor of Ojeda and other victims of unsolved murders.
BCSO said the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information on those responsible is urged to contact BCSO by calling 210-335-6000 or email bcsotips@bexar.org. You can remain anonymous.
