CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Rudy Feregrino, a 22-year-old Corpus Christi resident has been sentenced to a 90-month term in prison following his conviction for a hotel robbery in which he took off with only $30.
The U.S. District Attorney said Feregrino went into the Holiday Inn Express on Brookhaven Drive in Corpus Christi and pointed a black and tan firearm at the clerk and demanded money from the register.
His prison term will be immediately followed by three years of supervised release.
At the time of the robbery, he was wearing distinctive grey high-top Nike sneakers and a black windbreaker with white reflective stripes.
Law enforcement officers spotted an individual that matched Feregrino’s description entering a vehicle several hours later before discovering that the vehicle had been reported stolen.
They then conducted a traffic stop and found the 22-year-old still wearing the same distinctive clothes from the robbery. Authorities also found the firearm.
The convicted man has been and will remain in custody until he is transferred to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility to be determined in the near future.
The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted the investigation with assistance from the Corpus Christi Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joel Dunn prosecuted the case.
