SAN ANTONIO — Family, friends, and even strangers gathered Sunday night for a march in honor of 17-year-old Kaitlin Hernandez.
She was found strangled on Mar. 13 in a ditch off Dell Oak Drive shortly after her family reported her missing.
Since then, police questioned the person Kaitlin was last seen with but have not named any suspects in the case.
"If it can happen to Kaitlin, it can happen to anyone,” Kaitlin’s aunt, Laura Padron, said.
Dozens joined the family on Sunday, including strangers like Joane Duke.
"I live five miles from here, there's no reason why I couldn't be here to support the family, I feel their pain,” Duke said.
The group walked around the neighborhood where Kaitlin lived and where her body was discovered. They held up signs. One read, ‘don’t go for a walk, you might not come home’.
The family said on Mar. 12, around 7:30 p.m., the 17-year-old went outside to hangout with a friend. They expected her to be back inside within an hour. When she did not return, they called police.
In the early hours of Mar. 13, investigators discovered her body in the ditch.
"It's just hard, hard to pass by here, having to come fix her flowers, relight candles at night, it's just not fair,” Her aunt, Crystal Barron Rodriguez, said.
The family insists they will not give up the fight to find answers as to why Kaitlin was killed. They said they have not received any new information from police.
"We want justice,” Rodriguez said.

Hernandez's family has created a GoFundMe to raise money for funeral services. The family is still working on funeral arrangements.
