'Turn yourself in already' | Family holds second march in honor of murdered 17-year-old Kaitlin Hernandez

Police are continuing to search for who killed a 17-year-old girl after her body was found naked in a ditch last month.

SAN ANTONIO — Dozens gathered Sunday night for a march in honor of 17-year-old Kaitlin Hernandez. This is the second march the family has hosted, as police work to find her killer.

Hernandez was found on Mar. 12, strangled and naked in a ditch off Dell Oak Drive on the northeast side, according to police.

Her aunt, Crystal Rodriguez led the crowd from the memorial set up in honor of the high school senior, to her home where she was just hours before she was discovered dead.

“She was just a 17-year-old about to graduate, she had dreams and goals and y’all took that from her,” Rodriguez said.

Kaitlin was set to graduate from Roosevelt High School. She aspired to go to college and become a veterinarian.

Her family planned the march to keep her case alive. They said police have not provided any significant update to the case.

“Turn yourself in already, it’s already been a month, how can you sleep, how can you eat, how can you be with your family?” Rodriguez said.

Members of Kaitlin’s church, New Hope San Antonio, showed up in support Sunday. They said she had just recently connected with her faith.

“She had just started to help my wife with the Sunday school, she had a heart from an autistic boy who was with the church and she was really starting to blend in and be a blessing to us,” Pastor Johnny Vaughan said.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. If you know anything about this case, you are advised to call crime stoppers at 210-224-STOP and you can remain anonymous.
