Family of murdered SA teen Kaitlin Hernandez hosting Sunday march as police continue searching for killer

The march will take place at 6 p.m. at the bridge of 7600 Dell Oak, over the drainage ditch where the 17-year-old's body was found more than a week ago.

SAN ANTONIO — It's been nearly two weeks since Kaitlin Hernandez was found strangled to death in a northwest-side ditch, mere hours after the high school senior went missing.

Since her death the community has come together to support her family as they grieve and process her death. No arrests have been made in her case, and the family is left with many questions, the biggest being: Why would someone take Kaitlin's life?

On Saturday afternoon, Kaitlin's family announced they will be holding a march around the neighborhood to bring awareness to the still-unsolved case. Loved ones say they want to make sure she isn't forgotten.

The march will take place Sunday at 6 p.m.  Attendees can meet at the bridge in the 7600 block of Dell Oak Drive.

The family is hoping someone will come forward with information, and are asking the person responsible to turn themselves in.

“We’re hurting so much, I don’t know how to put it into words,” Angie Hernandez told KENS 5 earlier this month. “We’re trying to stay strong for one another but it’s just killing us. Killing us.”

San Antonio Crime Stoppers has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.  If you have any information about Kaitlin's case your urged to contact San Antonio Police at (210) 224-STOP or (210) 224-7897.
