CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Rockport Police Department is welcoming a new employee to help the team get a little more 'ruff' on crime.
Roscoe, a 2-year-old German Shepherd, is the department's first-ever K-9 officer and he's ready to serve and protect the community!
He'll work in drug detection as well as search and apprehension alongside his handler, Officer Elvin Garcia, who says he can't wait to get started with his new partner.
"He's gonna be great!" Garcia said, "He's got the attitude, he's got the drive. He's great with family, great with pets, great with kids. He's just a good dog overall."
The two will head off to training soon for four weeks before coming home and using those skills to keep Rockport residents safe.
