Superhero Comic Con, free music events and more to do in San Antonio this weekend

But if superheroes and costumes aren’t your thing, there will be no shortage of live music events happening all weekend that you won’t want to miss.

SAN ANTONIO — There is plenty of indoor fun lined up this weekend to keep you out of the rain as San Antonio continues to feel the effects of Tropical Storm Alberto. 

Here are our top picks.

Dust off your superhero capes and costumes

Get ready to geek out at Superhero 2024 Comic Con. The annual pop culture festival offers an immersive experience to meet your favorite celebrities, voice actors and comic artists. Attendees can also visit celebrity panels, hang out in the free play arcade, see live performances from a variety of musical acts, participate in a cosplay competition and so much more.

Some of this year’s featured celebrities include Chris Pine, Jake Gyllenhaal, Diego Luna, Orlando Bloom and more. See the full event schedule here.

The event, presented by Thomas J. Henry, kicks off Thursday at the Freeman Coliseum and runs until the end of the weekend.

Melanie Martinez brings the "Trilogy" tour to San Antonio

Fans of Melanie Martinez will pack the Frost Bank Center on Sunday as the alternative-pop singer performs on "The Trilogy Tour," her own version of an “eras tour.”

Martinez will perform hits from all three of her unique conceptual studio albums: "Crybaby," "K-12" and "Portals," each representing different eras in the star’s career. Guest performers include Beach Bunny and Sofia Isella.

When: Sunday at 7 p.m.

Experience the legendary music of Led Zeppelin

San Antonio Philharmonic will perform the music of classic rock bring-down-the-house-ers Led Zeppelin, conducted by Brent Havens and backed by a full rock band, including vocalist Randy Jackson of Zebra.

Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind tribute showing “a whole lotta love” to the iconic music of Led Zeppelin.

When: Saturday,at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.)

San Antonio Botanical Garden celebrates Make Music Day

Clear up your Friday schedule for a day of live music surrounded by nature at the San Antonio Botanical Garden as they celebrate Make Music Day at The Betty Kelso Center.

Inspired by the “Fête de la Musique” national holiday in France, Make Music Day is celebrated internationally in over 120 countries. The daylong music festival will feature a diverse range of genres from classical to rock, mariachi, swing dance and more.

When: Friday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Where: San Antonio Botanical Garden (555 Funston Place)

Free live music on the River Walk

Every third Thursday of the month, the San Antonio River Walk hosts its free concert series, “River Walk Live!” at the historic Arneson River Theatre.

The monthly event features a mix of rising and established performers for a night of music under the stars.

And while we could expect more rainfall, the show must go on (indoors). The venue for Thursday’s performance has been changed to The Hard Rock Cafe and will feature headliner Angel White.

When: Thursday at 8:30 p.m. (Seating is first-come first-served and starts at 6 p.m.)

Finally, if weather permits, take the family out as Bexar County’s Friday Night Flicks presents a free outdoor screening of Disney’s "Coco" at Rodriguez Park.
