UVALDE, Texas — He was among the first to respond to the mass shooting at Robb Elementary in 2022.
Now, a Uvalde police sergeant has retired after being placed on leave for missing body camera video recorded that day. Just last month, the footage was discovered during a department audit.
According to Uvalde Leader-News, the sergeant's name is Donald Page, who retired last Friday after he was disciplined for withholding video from the mass shooting.
According to Uvalde police, the video was uncovered during an audit of the department’s servers in August.
If released, this would be in addition to several video files recently released as part of a lawsuit. However, that is up to the district attorney’s office to decide.
As for the former officer, the police chief told the paper he doesn’t believe the files were held intentionally, but he does intend to comply with a court order that mandates the video be released from the shooting.
