Chris Paul 'excited' to join San Antonio; Summer Spurs back in action

Paul posted a video message on social media on his arrival to the Spurs.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs officially announced that they acquired veteran point guard Chris Paul, and he is "excited" to be joining the squad.

Paul posted a video on social media telling all fans how thrilled he is to be a Spur and to have a chance to play for coach Gregg Popovich.

"Hey what's up Spurs fans. Just wanted to let you know how excited I am to get to San Antonio. I would have never thought in a million years that I'd get an opportunity to play for Pop, but I am so excited," said Paul. "Excited about this young and talented team. Cannot wait to get there and get to work and see what we got a chance to do. Go Spurs"

Last season with the Golden State Warriors, he played in 58 games and averaged 9.2 points, 6.8 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.20 steals in 26.4 minutes. He finished the season with the second-best assist-to-turnover ratio in the NBA (5.17).

The 19-year veteran has a career average of 17.5 points, 9.4 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.12 steals in 34.1 minutes over 1,272 games (1,232 starts) with Golden State, Phoenix, Oklahoma City, Houston, LA Clippers, and New Orleans while shooting 47.1% from the field, 36.9% from three, and 87.0% from the foul line.

SUMMER SPURS RETURN TO THE COURT

The Summer Spurs will return to the court at the Sacramento California Classic Summer League on Tuesday night when they will face Team China at 7:00 CDT.

The team (0-2) is coming off a loss to the Sacramento Kings, 59-85.

Spurs rookie forward Harrison Ingram and Tyson Ward poured in 11 points each to lead the team. James Bouyea finished with 10 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Guard Stephon Castle did not play.
