Dominick Barlow set to enter free agency, Chris Paul to Spurs rumors pop up

NBA Free Agency 2024 is underway.

SAN ANTONIO — According to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the San Antonio Spurs did not tender a qualifying offer to forward Dominick Barlow. He will enter free agency as an unrestricted free agent.

Barlow finished last season averaging 4.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. He also shot 49.6% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point line.

The Spurs still can re-sign Barlow if they are interested.

San Antonio recently tendered qualifying offers to Sandro Mamukelashvili and David Duke Jr.

CHRIS PAUL TO SPURS RUMORS POP UP

With the NBA Free Agency period here, many players might change addresses ahead of the 2024-25 season.

According to NBA writer Marc Stein, the Spurs are also "believed to have" interest in the veteran point guard Paul.

The Clippers are also reportedly interested in adding Paul.

This is not the first time Stein reports a Paul-Spurs potential move. In May, he reported the following:

“The Spurs and the Lakers keep coming up as potential suitors for the Warriors' Chris Paul if Paul becomes a free agent this offseason. Paul's longstanding friendship with LeBron James and his well-known desire to stay as close to his L.A.-based family as possible certainly add credence to the notion of the Lakers' signing him."

If Paul calls San Antonio home next season, he could fill the Spurs' need for a veteran point guard to pair with Victor Wembanyama and mentor the young guards on the roster, including rookie Stephon Castle. He is an All-Star and a floor general and would be able to impart his NBA knowledge to the young Spurs team.

However, he is past his prime (38) and may want to join a team in the title hunt, considering his time in the league is running out. He has yet to help push a team to the NBA crown in his career, but the Spurs are seasons away from contending for the title.

In addition, oddsmakers BetOnline projects the Spurs as the No.1 team to land him next season.
