Five things to watch: Spurs vs. Celtics

Can the Spurs get a win at home to wrap up 2023?

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs (5-26) will host the Boston Celtics (25-6) tonight for the final home game of 2023. The Spurs will also welcome back ex-Spurs guard Derrick White.

GAME REWIND

The Spurs are coming off a road loss versus the Blazers, 134-128.

Victor Wembanyama sat out of the game for rest.

Zach Collins had 17 points and three rebounds but exited the game with a right ankle injury and did not return. Jeremy Sochan had two points and four rebounds. Keldon Johnson added 29 points and seven rebounds to lead the team. Devin Vassell recorded 22 points in the loss while Doug McDermott added 18 points.

"I thought we played horrendously getting down 26 (points). The (Portland) made shots. We didn't make shots but that's the NBA. I told the team I was proud of them. The way they hung tough," Gregg Popovich said. "A young group can just give in but they got back in the ball game by playing more physically themselves. Moving better on offense."
