SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs will visit their in-state rival Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night for their 2024-25 season-opening game, marking the second straight year the Texas teams are playing each other to start their campaigns. Tipoff is at 6:30 p.m. CT.
PRESEASON REWIND
The Spurs finished the preseason 2-3 and on a two-game losing skid.
Keldon Johnson led the team in scoring with 14.3 points per game. Rookie Riley Minix (57%), Sandro Mamukelashviki (55%) and Julian Champagnie (42%) led the team in three-point shooting.
Victor Wembanyama saw limited playing time, appearing in just two games and posting 9.5 points, eight rebounds and two rebounds per appearance. He averaged 19.9 minutes in those matchups.
Chris Paul and Tre Jones averaged 5.3 assists per game, while rookie Stephon Castle finished the preseason with 11.0 points per game and 3.6 assists in five games played.
INJURY REPORT
Devin Vassell is out versus Dallas as he continues to nurse a foot injury. He won't return until November at the earliest. Everyone else is available for San Antonio.
