Report: Spurs rookie Juan Nunez inks deal with Barcelona; Sochan, Poland lose to Finland, ending Olympic bid

Nunez will reportedly have an NBA out-clause.

SAN ANTONIO — According to a report from Spanish site Encestando, San Antonio Spurs 2024 NBA Draft selection point guard Juan Nunez will sign a deal with FC Barcelona to remain overseas.

According to the report, it will be a "long contract" with an NBA exit clause.

He played with the German team Ratiopharm Ulm (2022-24) (before signing with Barcelona) and recorded 9.0 points per game with 5.0 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 35 career games. He helped the German team capture the championship in 2022–23.

Real Madrid owned his rights while he was with Ulm but have agreed to release him and let him sign with FC Barcelona.

Currently, Nunez will stay overseas to develop before he leaps the NBA.

The Pacers selected the 20-year-old guard in the second round of the NBA Draft but swapped picks with the Spurs for Johnny Furphy and cash considerations. He is not with the Spurs Summer League team as he is with Team Spain for the 2024 Olympics.

The Spurs have a long history of "draft-and-stash" players, including Manu Ginobili, before joining the NBA.

SOCHAN AND POLAND LOSE TO FINLAND

Spurs' Jeremy Sochan and Team Poland lost a heartbreak to Finland, 89-88, at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Valencia, Spain.

Sochan had 20 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals in the loss.
