'Do you want to watch San Antonio?' | Former NBA player believes Spurs should not be featured vs. Knicks on Christmas Day

Former NBA forward Kenyon Martin believes the Spurs are not a worthy opponent for New York on Christmas Day.

SAN ANTONIO — For the first time since 2016, the San Antonio Spurs will be featured on the NBA's Christmas Day slate of games.  The last time the Spurs played on Christmas Day, they topped the Bulls 119-100.

This upcoming season, the team will be on the road to face the Knicks at Madison Square Garden this holiday season, and it is shaping up to be a fantastic game.

However, former NBA forward Kenyon Martin believes the Spurs are not a worthy opponent for New York on Christmas Day.

"The people that go to the games on Christmas Day in the Garden. So you make them go watch the Spurs play? It's Christmas Day," he said on the "Gil's Arena" show. "When you wake up at 9:00, the game come on at 9:00 out here, do you want to watch, no disrespect, do you want to watch San Antonio?"

Said Martin: "San Antonio on Christmas. If you're going to put a lesser team, just go put the Brooklyn Nets."

Clearly, Martin needs to see the bigger picture.

Spurs' Victor Wembanyama is one of the league's most marketable players. He brings attention on the road, on television, and just about anywhere he plays. Of course, the Spurs will be a headline game taking on the Knicks.

And to add more spice to the Christmas Day game, it will be Wembanyama's first Christmas Day NBA game, and he might want to quiet the Garden crowd.

On his first visit to New York as a Spur, he was met with chants of "overrated" from the Knicks fans.

He also posted a whopping 40 points and 20 rebounds stat line when the Spurs hosted the Knicks in San Antonio in a thrilling overtime win.

Yes, Wemby is the draw, but the last two Spurs games against the Knicks have been fun, with both teams battling on the floor.
