Spurs fans dogpile NBA reporter for wild Chet Holmgren, Tim Duncan take

Spurs fans came together to roast a reporter's scorching hot take.

SAN ANTONIO β€” One thing is for certain among San Antonio Spurs fans: Make a wild take on social media about the team or one of the franchise's legends, they will dogpile on you to no end.

And that is exactly what happened with CBS Sports NBA writer Sam Quinn.

Quinn recently shared on X that OKC's Chet Holmgren is the best defensive rookie since Tim Duncan.

That hot take got Silver and Black fans to unite as one to correct Quinn, remind him that the Spurs do have Victor Wembanyama on the roster, and proceed to absolutely roast him on X.

Here's a sample of what Spurs fans had to say about Quinn's wild take:

Indeed Wembanyama is proving to be the best defensive rookie since Duncan.

A quick look at his defensive numbers is jaw-dropping.

The 20-year-old is currently posting 10.1 rebounds, 3.2 blocks and 1.1 steals. He leads all rookies in blocks at 115 total as well as the entire league in that category.

In addition, he ranks in the 97th percentile among all centers in defensive field goal rebounding and the 81st percentile among centers in steal percentage, according to Cleaning The Glass.

Keep in mind, he has recently been on a minute restriction and he is still dominating on the defensive end.
