Spurs fans cry foul with OKC's Holmgren winning the Rookie of the Month Award over Wembanyama

Spurs fans are miffed that Wemby got passed up for the honor.

SAN ANTONIO — The NBA announced the Thunder's Chet Holmgren as the Western Conference Rookie of the Month for October and November and it is not sitting well with San Antonio Spurs fans.

Wembanyama was nominated for the award but that still doesn't provide solace for the Silver and Black fanbase.

Here's a sample of what Spurs fans are saying on social media about it all:

Let's take a look at the tale of the tape between Holmgren and Wembanyama.

Currently, Holmgren's Thunder is 1-0 versus Wembanyama's Spurs.

The OKC rookie posted 17.9 points per game along with 7.8 rebounds and 2.1 blocks. He's also posting 0.9 steals per game, 2.6 assists, 39% shooting from the three-point line, and 1.9 turnovers.

However, Wemby averaged better stats with 19.3 points per game along with 9.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks in that same span.

Overall, he's also posting 1.3 steals per game, 2.6 assists, 27% shooting from the three-point line, and 3.5 turnovers.

Ultimately, this may have come down to OKC owning a better record than the Spurs.

The race for the Rookie of the Year will be great to watch throughout the season.

Wembanyama and Holmgren are the cream of the crop among this year's rookie class.

Even some Vegas oddsmakers are currently projecting Holmgren to be the Rookie of the Year when it was Wembanyama who was the hands-down projected winner.
