SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs' Julian Champagnie, along with the Spurs and Frost Bank, did their part to help local students learn crucial finance skills at the "Reality Fair."
This program helped San Antonio high school students from Sam Houston High School, Southwest Legacy High School and Lanier High School have the opportunity to spend a day in the life as either a Frost banker or Spurs employee, learning to budget for expenses such as mortgages and utilities.
The students also got a chance to meet the Spurs swingman, play games with him, get his autograph and listen to a motivational speaker.
"No matter what kind of money you have, big money or little money, it's all important," Champagnie said. "You have to learn how to budget. You have to learn where you're at. Figure out what you can and cannot do."
Joining Champagnie was the Coyote and the team's Hype squad to encourage students to develop budgeting skills.
KELDON JOHNSON SAYS THE TEAM IS LOCKED IN TO START THE SEASON
The start of the new season is just days away when the Spurs will take on the Mavericks on the road.
But as the days inch closer to opening night, forward Keldon Johnson says the team is locked in for wins to start the season.
"I feel like we'll be great. I feel like we had a lot of time to practice together," Johnson said. "We're prepared to do what we got to do to win this year."
With the additions of Chris Paul, Harrison Barnes and Victor Wembanyama's assent, the Spurs could be a team that no other team should take lightly.
As for Johnson, he came into camp in peak shape, shedding pounds, ready to steady the second unit and will look to build on the team's positive strides they made to close out last season.
