San Antonio Spurs release Chris Paul, Keldon Johnson jerseys reflecting new numbers

Spurs have released new jerseys that reflect Paul with No. 3 and Johnson moving to No. 0.

SAN ANTONIO — Once the San Antonio Spurs announced they had signed Chris Paul, fans immediately wondered if Keldon Johnson would give up his No. 3 jersey for the veteran who has had the moniker "CP3" throughout his playing days.

One moment, Johnson is adamant he is keeping No. 3, only to completely change his mind and share his new jersey number on social media: No. 0.

Now that the mystery of the No. 3 jersey is over, the Spurs have released new jerseys that reflect Paul with No. 3 and Johnson moving to No. 0.

The Paul No. 3 jersey is available at the Spurs Fan Shop. It is available in the Association, Icon and Statement jerseys in swingman ($149.99) and authentic ($269.99) styles.

Ultimately, it is unsurprising that Johnson went to No. 0, paving the way for Paul to wear No. 3.

Before entering the NBA, he wore jersey No. 3 at Kentucky and Oak Hills Academy in Virginia.

He picked that jersey number for two reasons.

He is the third child in his family. As a child, his favorite player was the newest member of the Spurs.

"Growing up, I was the third child," Johnson said. "And when I was growing up, Chris Paul was my favorite player. I watched a lot of his highlights when I was younger."

Johnson's switching to No. 0 reflects the jersey number he wore during his time with the Austin Spurs.
