Spurs rookie Stephon Castle is done with Summer League play

Castle played three Summer League games before being shelved.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs have announced that rookie Stephon Castle is done with Summer League play.

According to the team, he suffered a right wrist sprain in his first Las Vegas Summer League game against the Blazers. This is likely a cautionary move and not a severe injury.

Against the Blazers, Castle scored 22 points, four assists, and five rebounds in 29 minutes.

He did play two games at the California Classic. He averaged 15.0 points per game, including 36% shooting from the field, six rebounds and four assists.

During Castle's last game in Vegas, coach Gregg Popovich praised the young guard.

"I love his seriousness for such a young kid. I love his pace," Popovich said. "You see, his expression never changes, and he doesn't go too fast; he doesn't go too slow. He reads the situations. He's going to be a quick study, I think, and get to play on the court pretty quickly."
