SAN ANTONIO — Start planning a trip to Paris, Spurs fans.
The San Antonio Spurs officially announced they will play two regular-season games in Paris as part of The NBA Paris Games 2025 presented by Tissot.
The Spurs will tip off against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday, Jan. 23, and Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, marking the first time the NBA will play two regular-season games in the French capital in the same season.
“Playing in Paris has been an incredible experience for our organization in the past and we are thrilled for the opportunity to be a part of The NBA Paris Games 2025,” said San Antonio Spurs CEO RC Buford said in a release. “Thanks to our deep international history, we are fortunate to have Spurs fans in France, across Europe, and around the world. We are excited to continue to honor that legacy by purposefully connecting and engaging with our fans in France on and off the court.”
This announcement isn't too surprising.
During the 2023-24 season, coach Gregg Popovich confirmed the team will head to Paris.
“We’re going there,” Popovich said in March.
In addition, team great Tony Parker said in a January interview with the French channel Canal+ Sport that the Silver & Black will play in Paris.
“It’s very good news to have Spurs next year and for two games," he said.
Not only is this great for the Spurs, but it is also an opportunity for Victor Wembanyama (and Sidy Cissoko) to play in the regular-season versus NBA competition in front of the home crowd.
“I’m looking forward to it very much," Wembanyama said.
The team also announced that additional information about ticket sales, the venue, game times, and surrounding events and activities will be provided later. Fans can register for tickets and access presale information by visiting NBA.com/Paris.
The Spurs also notified current season ticket members that the Paris games will not impact the number of games in their ticket packages and that the team will work with them to arrange packages for the Paris games.
This wouldn't be the Spurs' first time playing in France. The team played in Paris in 2003 and 2006 and in Lyon in 2006.
