Timberwolves 117, Spurs 110: What they said after the game

The Spurs losing skid moves to four-in-a-row after a loss versus the Wolves.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs picked up their fourth straight loss, losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves, 117-110 at home. San Antonio also recorded a loss for the In-Season Tournament.

Victor Wembanyama had 29 points, and nine rebounds while Devin Vassell also recorded 29 points. Zach Collins had 11 points and two rebounds in the loss. Jeremy Sochan had 14 points. Tre Jones had eight points and four assists.

The Spurs are 3-6 on the season, and will next host the Miami Heat Sunday night.

Here's a sample of what the teams said after the game.

SPURS

Gregg Popovich

"I was proud of them. I thought they did a good job tonight. That's a very talented team (Minnesota), a very experienced team, a team that has designs on wanting to win a championship. Our young guys played their butts off. Totally different game than Indiana or New York. Nobody likes to lose but there's all kinds of good things in this game."

Vassell

"We'll watch the film. We'll learn from it. Other teams think that they can go zone on us and we'll have something better next game," Vassell said. "I'm patient and we're patient as a group. We didn't get the outcome that we wanted today. Today was a big step. The past couple of days, let's be honest, we were getting blown out."

Wembanyama

“We've had ups and downs, but I think we're fixing some stuff every time. We can get much better, but as the youngest team in the league, I think we’re already doing a good job with our intentions but now we have to do good as a fact.”

WOLVES

Coach Chris Finch

"We didn't play our best for sure. We got off to a kind of an indifferent start. Thought we were super sloppy, not locked in, and then we finally found a combination of guys who were pretty sharp there in the second quarter. That kind of sparked us into the game in the mid to late second quarter. Third quarter, we came out with a lot of intensity both defensively and a lot of purpose on offense.
