SAN ANTONIO β There's been much speculation about Atlanta's Trae Young finding a new NBA home as soon as next season.
Young has been at the center of trade speculation for most of the season, but he recently cleared up any rumors.
In an interview with Taylor Rooks, the point guard said he wants to remain with the Hawks if the team is winning.
"Like I just wanna win. So that's, that's in Atlanta. That's, that's where I want to be, that's where I envision myself being. But that's, that's it, that's it," he said.
And he believes he can win a title with Atlanta.
"For me, my whole vision was to always be here- like my whole goal is to win here. Win championships, bring people here with me and build this, this championship here and this dynasty here," he said. "But who knows? Like its year six now and who knows? Like for me, I want that."
The Spurs have been rumored to be looking to trade for Young in the offseason.
With the team needing a scoring point guard and his fondness for rookie Victor Wembanyama, Young could be another big piece in San Antonio's rebuild.
In addition, at All-Star Weekend 2024, Young was asked what kind of player Wemby needed to be paired with, and he described himself.
βThe kind of player that can help him win a championship and make his job easier. Thatβs the type of player he needs,β said Young.
Also, former NBA players like Demarcus Cousins hope to see Young wear San Antonio colors next season.
