SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio and the surrounding areas are going all in this Fourth of July with a slew of celebration events, parades and firework shows!
Throw in live music and great food, and there will be no shortage of ways to celebrate our nation's independence around the San Antonio area.
If you're worried about not having plans for this year's Independence Day, KENS 5 has got you covered. Read on below for our compiled list of celebrations, parades and firework shows happening in the Alamo City area.
San Antonio
The City's Official 4th of July Celebration at Woodlawn Lake Park is free to the public and will kick off at 11 a.m. with a day full of activities, food trucks, fun drinks and a firework show to cap off the night around 9 p.m.
The Stars & Stripes on Houston Street is a brand-new celebration that will have a weeks worth of events ranging from river parades to free drone shows. The party begins on July 1 and will last until July 7.
SeaWorld will be hosting its annual 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular from Thursday, July 4, to Sunday, July 7, with each show starting at 9:30 p.m. Guest are able to attend the show for free with admission into the park. The show is said to "illuminate SeaWorld’s skyline and captivate guests with its spectacular display of colorful flames and twinkling sparks."
Six Flags is set to celebrate the biggest holiday of the summer with a Rock the Fourth 360° Drone & Fireworks Extravaganza featuring more than 200 drones with over 1,000 individual launches from 30 different firing locations across the park. The epic show will continue through the July 6.
The Dominion Country Club, located at 1 Dominion Drive, will be hosting a Fourth of July Festival from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. It will cost $50 for adults and $40 for kids 4 to 12 years old; children 3 years old or younger get in for free. Drink tickets will be available the day of the event but will only be able to be purchased with cash. An ATM will be onsite.
Alamo Heights
The annual Glorious 4th of July Neighborhood Parade is a beloved neighborhood tradition that has lasted for more than 50 years. The parade will start at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Estes and Patterson and ends about a mile down the way at Cathedral Park.
Boerne
At 9:15 p.m., the annual Independence Day Fireworks Show will begin. There will be a food truck vendor but the city said spectators are allowed to bring their own food and drinks, but glass is prohibited. Prime viewing spots for the show will be at the Kendall County Fairgrounds and Champion High School, according to the City of Boerne.
Helotes
On Wednesday, July 3, the Helotes Independence Day Parade returns in a big way, offering a free event to everyone with live music, food and of course, a firework finale. The event will kick off at 6 p.m. at the Helotes Festival Grounds located at 12210 Leslie Road.
Kirby
Kirby will get its fireworks party on early with a June 29 Fireworks in the Park celebration for families at Friendship Park (5745 Binz-Engleman Road), which costs $5 per car for entry. Food trucks and a carnival will be on hand, in addition to a DJ and live music from Thomas Jimenez & the Runaway Trains, Wolves in the Attic, El Dorado Band, and ATay & the Band.
The party runs from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Leon Valley
The 30th Annual Fourth of July "Heroes of Independence: Honoring Our Military Celebration" is taking place at Raymond Rimkus Park, located in the 6440 block of Evers Road. The celebration will last all day long, starting at 6:30 a.m. with the 5k Pioneer Firecracker RunWalk followed by a parade, food trucks, live music and the Firework Spectacular accompanied by a new Laser Show at 9:45 p.m.
San Marcos
Pack up your lawn chairs, blankets and snacks for the free annual July 4th Fireworks Show in San Marcos. The fireworks will be launched from UFCU Stadium west lot and the best viewing spots will include the San Marcos Activity Center, San Marcos Public Library, City Park and UFCU Stadium, according to the City. The show will begin at 9:30 p.m. and is said to last around 20 minutes.
Schertz
You can start your Independence Day Celebrations with the Let Freedom Run 5K at the 48th Annual 4th of July Jubilee. 2024 will only be the 12th time a race was held at the jubilee.
Immediately after the 5K, at 9:30 a.m., the patriotic parade will begin. The jubilee will include a kid carnival at Thulemeyer Park, live music and the Fireworks Spectacular finale at Pickrell Park around 9:15.
