SAN ANTONIO — More than a month after two masked gunmen brazenly shot dozens of rounds into a northeast-side home, killing a young girl and hurting her siblings and parents, law enforcement have yet to make an arrest.
Now the Bexar County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) says it's creating a special task force "comprising of multiple units within the sheriff's office to investigate and apprehend those responsible." Asked what the task force entails, a BCSO spokesperson told KENS 5 it involved the agency's covert and intel units, tech personnel who specialize in cybersecurity, and the fugitive apprehension unit focusing their efforts to solve the case.
The home in the 3700 block of Windsor Hollow Drive was left riddled with bullet holes after the evening assault on May 8, which Sheriff Javier Salazar categorized as a "targeted attack." Video shared by BCSO shows one of the gunman walking far up the driveway while opening fire with what authorities called an AK-47-style gun.
A 4-year-old girl, Mary Ann Marble, was declared dead in the hours after the shooting. Her young parents, as well as her 7 and 8-year-old brothers, were also shot.
Meanwhile, the car believed to have been used by the suspects to get to and leave the neighborhood was found abandoned on the west side a few days later.
Salazar has said the gunmen could face capital murder charges once arrested, but that search remains ongoing. BCSO told KENS 5 on Monday night that persons of interest have been identified, but "investigators need assistance from the community" identifying the suspects.
A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to arrests in the case. BCSO said they're working to increase that reward. Anyone with information about the case is urged to call (210) 224-STOP.
